We visited the two local clubs (In Canary Wharf), the Reebok Club and the LA Fitness.
LA Fitness was 55£ a month, but it locked you in a 12 month contract, Reebok is a wooping 95£ (no contract), in paper the LA club was a clear winner. … Until you visit both that is.
Let me put it this way, the Mens bathroom (they would not let me in the girls bathroom) on the Reebok Club was about the size of the entire LA Club, we felt the 55£ that LA asked was expensive, but the 95£ on Reebok was actually good value.
I did ask on both clubs if I joined in, and just pay the fee, never show up, and by just being a member I would loose weight .. Sadly the answer on both was no :-/
Back to 3D
Friday, December 19th, 2008A few days back I decided to design the VPS.NET mascot in 3D.
That was a task I gave myself, after all, for most of the 90′s that was my job, 3D Illustration and Animation in a time when 3D was still a tabu word … those where the days .. to create the simplest of the objects was a pain and a lengthy process, but the results where always very rewarding.
I was most proficient on Lightwave 3D, I used it from way back in the Newtek Toaster days, around 2000/2001 I decided I was going to move to Softimage 3D (then doing a name change to XSI), so I bought (then a very very very expensive) License, but as I did that, Alias & Wavefront merged to create “Maya” … so undecided on what to learn next, I stuck to Lightwave and put my other software licenses on the shelf.
It has been over 4 years since I last fired up Lightwave, as I did a few days back, I felt like someone who returns home after being gone for 20 years .. everything has a familiar feeling, but you cant find the cutlery drawer anymore
Seeing this was to be a back to basis and I would have to re-learn where everything was, I decided it was time to move on to a new software, so I setup Maya and will do my re-education on it.
Yep, it is back to basics …
Why ?, I know I could call on a friend or two and have them do the VPS.NET robot for me, but I want to do it myself, I miss being creative and doodling in a 3D App, I actually used to be quite good at it, while a career on 3D Animation is forever out of question for me, I will always enjoy the creative process and the satisfaction of designing in 3D.

Monday, December 8th, 2008Yesterday morning, I looked on our backyard and was amused to notice a very defined line between the snow/frost on the ground and the thaw of the same.
It’s obvious it was the line where the house covered the sun rays, not allowing it to thaw the snow, still, it’s perfect lines made for a cool picture

Sunday, November 16th, 2008When I bought my tickets today from Crewe to Euston I was made aware that due to track work there was no direct trains, so a 1:50 journey was to take 3:30.
I decided then to upgrade to first class, since it would be quite a long trip.
Big mistaque !!!! Not only I paid all that extra money, I paid it to travel standing up 
The bloddy train was so full from Birmingham onwards I had to stand up and shut up, despite the fact the majority of people in 1st had standard tickets, the entire train had been downgraded, so no free seats anywhere.
I just wish I had know it before I paid extra.
New Wheels …. finally
Sunday, May 11th, 2008My new wheels have finally arrived yesterday, it took me and Paul Harvey over 1 hour to mount them, because the car was on blocks, it was very hard to use those small jacks to prop it up, especially on the last wheel, it was too close to the curb to use the jack, so about 5-6 us us had to lift the car up and bounce it 1-2 foot to the right so a jack could fit
In the end, we got them all mounted, and they look great.
I have locking nuts on them now, I’m hoping this time they will stay safe .. I think they look real nice

Friday, May 9th, 2008Last Monday I went out for a drink .. or two .. or twenty, with Paul, Sue, Ben & Mrs Beanhead.
Anyway, I ended up wasted (so wasted I cannot still recollect what happen between 5:00PM & Tuesday Morning), but anyway, on Tuesday morning I realized I lost my glasses.
I asked the wife, she had no clue, so I tough .. I must have left them at the pub .. unfortunately for me, I’m told we went to 3 pubs .. I only remember two .. shit, wonder if I’m still allowed at the 3rd one .. anyway, since Tuesday, I have been blind with no glasses, I can see near, but far is all a blur .. quite a problem to drive, luckily my car is on blocks (ain’t that grand), so I’m not doing much driving these days.
Until tonight .. I’m about to go downstairs, when I look on top of the banister and .. there they are .. my glasses .. missing one of the lenses .. dang .. so thats what the girls where hiding from me earlier, they had been playing with them, and manage to loose one of the lens in the process.
So I told the wife, and she reply’s “hooo.. yes, I remember taking them off you on Monday night and putting them next to the radiator…“
Stupid woman … I could have used that info 4 days ago !!!
Well, I’m still blind .. but only on one eye .. tomorrow I’ll scour for the missing lens.
Wrong Wheels
Thursday, May 8th, 2008Yes, I got my TOMTOM Nicked a month or so back, Yes, I got my Wheels Nicked last week, but dammit, if I did not had bad luck, I would have no luck at all .. the new wheels arrived yesterday .. except I ordered white rims, and I got Black !!!
SOB .. They sent me the wrong damn wheels .. I sent them back today, the supplier promised they would ship the correct ones out today for delivery tomorrow .. I doubt it .. damn Van will be on blocks until the Second Coming …

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008Well, ordered the new wheels today, had a deal for a Set of Citroen C2 wheels, but the seller was an idiot, he quoted me a price, then after we agreed on the sale, he then try to get more, then said somebody else offered more, etc .. I moved on, in the end went for these

Van on Blocks …
Tuesday, April 29th, 2008I tough this only happened in the movies, but I woke up this morning to find my Van .. on blocks
Somebody took the time to lift it up during the night and steal the 4 15″ OZ alloys I had .. when I first saw it I started laughing .. to be honest it was quite funny to see it on blocks, but now I’m just pissed, as the realization of what is going to cost me sets in.
Sandbach is a lovely place, but we are close to the M6 .. so it’s also a good target for a hit and run robber.
I’d love to see the idiot’s face when he realizes two of them are badly warped.
In the meantime, it’s back to ebay to find some wheels and tires … bummer
