I just returned from Paris, I went there with Tom for a meeting with Patrick about a new UK2 project.
The weather was just great, so we did a bit of walking, unfortunately I should have wore more sensible shoes, my feet are killing me now :p

I’m in the train going back to London for another week of work.
I can’t believe a week has passes already since I last posted on tweeter the same thing.
Time sure flies, I take solisse in the knowing I have Brazilian feijoada waiting for me in London … Yummy !!!
Since I had a cold, I decided not to go home his weekend, to avoid getting the kids sick.
Today I was feeling better, so me and Everaldo went out in the town, it was too beautiful of a day to just stay at the flat.
We went to the “Forbidden Planet” Shop downtown followed by a trip to the Amber Grill, a Brazilian “Rodizio” grill, it was quite good

I have installed iLife 09 this weekend and started to sort some of our digital family photos (over 10k of them) by Geo-Location.
The iPhoto pics are easy, they are tagged automatically, the rest is a manual process
I have gone thru a few thousand so far, and a pattern has emerged, it seems we tend to stick to the Atlantic area, we definitely need to go visit Asia
Yes, the one in the middle of the Ocean is for real, thats the Azores.
Right around the corner from UK2 there is this pub called “The Big Chill Bar“, it’s the sort of place you might walk by 100 times and never go in, it’s nice, but does not call massive attention to itself.
A friend of mine (Karl) mentioned to me a few weeks back that every time he comes to London, he loves to go there and have their “Steak Sandwich”.
That got me curious, so I decided to try it .. and that was the beginning of my own love affair with their sandwich, while a whole meal there at lunch is only £6, I find it better tasting than a £20 / plate steak I had recently on a SOHO restaurant
So, when me and Everaldo where unsure yesterday of where to eat for lunch, I dragged him the 40 or so feet from the office to the pub to try it out .. and now he is a fan also

When I bought my tickets today from Crewe to Euston I was made aware that due to track work there was no direct trains, so a 1:50 journey was to take 3:30.
I decided then to upgrade to first class, since it would be quite a long trip.
Big mistaque !!!! Not only I paid all that extra money, I paid it to travel standing up 
The bloddy train was so full from Birmingham onwards I had to stand up and shut up, despite the fact the majority of people in 1st had standard tickets, the entire train had been downgraded, so no free seats anywhere.
I just wish I had know it before I paid extra.
I finally got a chance to visit the Apple Store in London, I had been wanting to go there since it’s doors open in 2004, but never had a chance, I have visited the smaller one in Manchester.
Yesterday me and Everaldo (who by the way is visiting, it’s been a pleasure to finally meet face to face somebody I have been friends with for 8+ years) decided to just go for it and visit, it was a fitting match, as we both huge Mac fans, while in the store we marveled at it’s huge glass staircase, and where amused by the fact so much of Everaldo’s work was on display, on a window they had a huge collection of prints of the App Store icons, and on them where several of his icons, also on the software isle we found some more of the Apps he designed … it’s a small world indeed.
In the end we both walk out if it a little “disappointed” .. not that the store was not great, but simply put, there was nothing new, thats the problem with the internet these days, we get out news and updates so quickly, that by the time one makes it to the shop, it’s all old news, regardless, it’s a place that warrants at least one visit
Everaldo and I …
I was feeling a bit nostalgic today, missing the goo old days when I used to live in the Azores, most precisely, a little village called “Fenais da Luz”, located in the north of the Sao Miguel Island.
Now, I was there about 4 years ago, and after an absence of over 10 years, I realized then, that what I missed was a bygone era, the place and people are not the same, everybody changes and people move on and away, but still .. it was a nice place as always, but it no longer was “my” place, it now belonged to a new generation, I always felt like a visit in my own land.
That did not stop me from googling the village today, I found it now has a new website dedicated to the local village county http://www.fenaisdaluz.com .. and even better, I found pictures
I was even able to find one that has my house on it (my mother lives on it) .. in the picture you can see people creating flower carpets for a religious march that happens every year, but I was surprised by the fact that, my house (the pink one on the left, only able to see about 1/2 of it’s front), has 3 people by the door … unfortunately .. I dont recognize a single one .. :p
Made me want to yell “hey, get the hell out of my property !!” 
When I walk from the office in Brick Ln at night towards Liverpool St Station, I am alleays in awe at the beuty of this view of the Gherkin building in London

For a while now, me and my wife have been thinking of buying a holiday home, we usually go to Seton Sands in Scotland for Holiday, and they have these very nice homes (we call them mobile/manufactured homes back in florida) .. and we did considered buying there, but it’s a 4 hour drive, so it means we would only use it a few times a year.
Instead we decided to look at Blackpool .. it’s considered by many to the the Orlando of England (?), and when i visited, I did got the feeling it’s a Holiday town, lots of different parks and attractions .. maybe a mini-orlando is more precise
Blackpool is a mere 70 miles to us, and of those 60 are all Motorway miles (M6) .. so in less than one hour and fifteen minutes, we are there, it’s a very easy drive too.
Anyway, we looked at a few Holiday Parks, and some of the were just a bit busy for our taste, they where more targeted to people on a week or weekend holiday, vs holiday home owners .. therefore, it was very busy, but luck had it, we found one that was just what we wanted, not a “rental” focused park, but instead one that caters to owners .. therefore, it was extremely quiet and tidy.
Plus it’s in walking distance to the tram and the beaches
We bought this Place, it’s a 1997 model, it has 3 bedrooms, luxury interior (proper recliner couches, actual dining tables, etc .. not the “fitted” crap that these houses are usually associated with), the previous owners kept it immaculate, as it is right now it’s perfect, but we wish to do some work on the outside (the grounds) and put a nice big deck for some outdoor entertaining and a “skirt” all around it to loose that “mobile home” look, it is also currently missing the steps & rail to climb up to the doors, they will be in Monday.
Here are some pictures … we will be going there next Friday to spend the weekend .. the bonus for me is that the NNRC racetrack is just a couple miles down the road, so I’ll be racing there on their Summer & Winter series
It is great to have a second place to call home, it is also double nice to have a place to go if the wife ever gets mad at me and sends me to the dog house.
