Batman

Tuesday, June 28th, 2005

Sunday night I went to the Movies to see “Batman Begins”

I loved the Batman’s with Michael Keaton, was quite unimpressed by the one with Val Kilmer .. and totally skipped Batman & Robin.

This one (for my taste) is the best one yet .. I’m not a movie reviewer, I just know what I like.

The movie is quite dark, but on a good way, and it gives credibility to the character “Bruce Wayne” as a man strong enough to fight crime, as it shows his training on becoming a .. err .. ninja :D ..

I will definitely grab the DVD when it comes out :)

Stonehenge

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Yesterday (Sunday), me and the family decided ti was a good time to go visit Stonehenge.

The site is only 95 miles away from were we live (Cardiff), and with the imminent move to Manchester, it will be much harder to visit it later on.

The drive there was excellent, after we travel 60 miles on I4 we then got into these beautiful country roads on the outskirts of Bath, that revealed some of the most amazing houses I have ever seen .. old and with character.

After about 1:50 on the road, we arrived (the return trip was only 1:35, helps when you know the road and not looking at a map every 5 minutes ;) ).. the road leading to the site has a rises then dips on the last 1/2 mile or so before the site, so when your on the rising side you get the fist glance of the site, on the next rise ahead .. which makes it look very dramatic .. hard to explain really, you have to see it with you own eyes.

The thing that amazed me is, Stonehenge is virtually in the middle of nowhere, there is a small village a few miles form it, but when you are on the site, everywhere you look, you see nothing but fields of pasture .. it’s quite nice actually, if you disregard the nearby road it really gives the sense of the whole region being undisturbed for millennia.

Cartoonized

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Thiago Brayner, has just finished the project I commissioned form him, to create a Toon version of my family, so I can use it on my Family Pictures site.

He started by doing a rought line sketch [A] [B] [C], wich I then reviewed and decided on some changes, a few jokes along the way [D] [E], and here is the end result:
Todos-Jpeg
His work is just incredible, I can’t imagine being more pleased.

Before I was using a generic avatar set created at abi-station

It’s a Duck, It’s a Cow .. no .. It’s a Tank !!

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

On my travels occasionally I encounter the odd SIGN posted .. such as this one.

But today, while on the way back from visiting Stonehenge, I found two more worth of notice .. and this one I took seriously, one thing is to run over a duck or hit a cow, another is to be ran over by one of these :D

I found them just outside Amesbury, some place called “Avon Fort” (no, not kidding .. as in Avon)..

2 x 24 = 48

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

My second 24″ Dell 2405FPW monitor arrived today.

I now have a working area of 3840*1200 pixels .. simply amazing.

Img 0644-1
It’s simply remarkable how much I have to turn my neck on both directions to see it all, I find myself leaning back on my chair (on a very comfortable position I must add) to see it all and work.

These 24″ are far superior to the 20″ 2005FPW .. I don’t get the rainbow effect at certain angles the 2005 does, and also, no dead pixels or light backwash .. Dell really got it right this time :)

iComics

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

I found this program today called “Comic Life” for OSX .. basically it allows you to import images from iPhoto or any other medium and make them into a Comic storyboard.

I couple of weeks ago, we took the girls to the Pet Zoo, so I tough those pictures taken of them terrorizing the chickens would do a good comic story, and it sure did :)

We still cant stop laughing over it :D

Very nice program indeed .. worth the 25 bucks.

Dublin Overnight

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

I have just returned home from a day long trip to Dublin, Ireland.
I have an irrational fear of flying, so the sight of the Cardiff Airport on my way to Departures on Sunday was not a joyful one.

2005-06-19 09-30-04-1

The flight was on a dual propeller small plane, it had the capacity for 40 people, but only about 20 were on the actual flight, as we took off I was actually amazed how smooth of a ride it was, I ended up spendign the 50 minute trip standing up on the back talkign to the flight attendant, I find that standing up makes me less aware of any bumps and chatting with somebody else put my mind at ease and away from my contant fear that the plane will crash, I don’t understand how Andy does it all the time.

After a very smooth flight, we arrived in Dublin.

I was happy the flight had been uneventful, little that I knew, my real problems were about to start..[...]

Guiness Rocks

Monday, June 20th, 2005

I’m currently in Ireland, for the opening of Hosting365′s DataCenter .. I arrived yesterday, and will be leaving later this afternoon back to Wales.

I will go into more detail about my trip later tonight, I also got some nice pictures of this great city (Dublin).

I had more than my share of Guiness pints last night, this morning I woke up feeling like a freight train just ran me over .. man, what a punch .. didnt help either the fact a few our our servers were attacked last night, so from 1:30-AM till about 4:30-AM the alarm (phone) kept going off, and I had to call the datacenter and get it all sorted out .. netherless to say, I feel like shit.

At least there is this nice Cybercafe right in front of the hotel, I was able to come down this morning and double check on all servers and helpdesk tickets, we seem to be 100% back in business, and all attacks have been filtered. :)

Good to be appreciated

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

On this thread on WHT, the users were gagging on some poor guy because he wanted to become a host, but didn’t had a business plan

I asked people to lay off the guy (after all, how many of us had a business plan when they started)

somebody called me an hypocrite because we at Psoft recommend more servers as a (business plan ?) requirement .. etc, basically in the past he called us and guess he didn’t felt respected (I work for Comodo/Psoft in the H-Sphere Control Panel division)

one of the comment backs from a user was: (regarding myself) .. ps a user I have no idea who he is…

“In fairness, regardless of what you may think of H-Sphere, Carlos has been around these forums and around the hosting business for many years prior to his involvement with H-Sphere. He’s more than qualified to offer advice and well-wishes to anyone, whether he’s currently affiliated with H-Sphere or not. ”

“But when it comes down to it, he’s got so much history in this biz, it’s kind of mind-boggling. He designed the first Cpanel theme for God’s sake! He can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe he also did the Cpanel logo.”

How’s that for an endorsement :) .. I should print it and have it framed :D (and send a copy to Cpanel … from H-Sphere)
