One has to love big corporations.
I started to work for Comodo a few months back, and being on “the inside” has landed me a sweet deal on a SSL reseller package, that is usually reserved for people with 20k and more to put down.
I decided to take advantage of it on the upcoming relio site re-design, and offer SSL certs for a good price, then I remembered, how about domains.
Currently I buy domains thru Bulkregister .. and even so they nice, they are expensive .. so I went looking for a enom account .. they have these nice $6.95 accounts, but they require you to put down near 7k .. so once again, look for corporate handshakes, and I found somebody on our organization who knows somebody in theirs .. and voila .. I’m on my way to a $6.95 account for free ![]()
You just got to know how to play the game ![]()

For the past 6 years I been working in the Web-Hosting industry.
During that time I created 3 companies, WizardsHosting, DataColo and Relio, the latter is simply a re-branding of the first. And while WizardsHosting and Relio worked great as a Shared Hosting outfit, DataColo was a disaster.
At the time I put DataColo up (end of 2000 / beginning of 2001), we offered dedicated servers and co-locations, and at that time, we could package a server with 50GB of bandwidth for $500 a month, or sell 1Mbs of traffic for $500-$700, the profit margins were great, and we made good money.
But then a shift on the market, sometime in 2001, RackShack (EV1) came along and started to offer servers for $99 per month with a staggering (back then) 100GB of transfer, clients flocked in, and outfits like ours started to feel the pain……

This morning I woke up to find out I had been robbed
Some scumbag broke the glass on the kitchen sliding door with a large rock and snatched my 15″ Powerbook.
Amazingly I hear nothing during the night, our bedroom is on the top floor towards the front of the house, while the kitchen is on the opposite end on the ground floor, we called the police, the came, they saw but doubt they will find anything.
I’m pissed off at myself, I got careless, and left it on the kitcheenn table, evn so the back of the house has a fence and leaads to woodlands, it’s not all that safe .. and by leaving the laptop in plain view I just created an opportunity for somebody on the prowl.
I had just paid 1000£ for it a 3-4 weeks ago.
I doubt the landlord haas insurance that will cover this .. so I just have to get used ot the fact, I am out of pocket 1k.
Not to meention the mess that all that broken glass created, at least here in the UK they have a council service that comes over and boards it up for you, Tuesday they will come back to replace the door .. very efficient, yes,, the landlord will have to pay, but it was better than me having to go chase for somebody to board the door on a Sunday morning.
Nether-less to say, my mood today is not a good one.

We have 2 main offices at Comodo, one in UK and one in US .. unfortunately we have a few people who always seem MIA in the US.
Every time I need to get a hold of Norm or Andrew they are MIA .. quite irritating.
Like today, got a server which needs to be shipped soon, trying to get the local Sysadmin to build it .. but as soon as we start talking he has to leave .. to leave where ? .. one never knows what these guys are working at.
Last month I sold a 3 server cluster which was to be shipped on a Monday, the following Wednesday I had been trying to contact Norm for over a week about the status of the servers, when i finally got him on the phone, i find that they had been given to another client who was in a hurry, leaving me stranded.
After allot of apologizing to the client, we shipped it the next day, but I let him (Norm) know this was unacceptable .. just need to make sure this doesn’t repeat with this order now ![]()

Here is something one doesn’t see every day, as I try to access PayPal this morning, I got this nifty looking page…
(it seems I have lost the image, basically paypal CSS was not loading and messed up it’s design .. bummer)
Initially I tough maybe I had gotten into a physhing site, so i looked into the url I typed in .. no typos .. it was PayPal.com alright .. refresh a few times and it continued to display like that.
10 minutes later it was back to normal, but it was funky to see one of the largest sites on the web goof-off

My second 24″ Dell 2405FPW monitor arrived today.
I now have a working area of 3840*1200 pixels .. simply amazing.

It’s simply remarkable how much I have to turn my neck on both directions to see it all, I find myself leaning back on my chair (on a very comfortable position I must add) to see it all and work.
These 24″ are far superior to the 20″ 2005FPW .. I don’t get the rainbow effect at certain angles the 2005 does, and also, no dead pixels or light backwash .. Dell really got it right this time ![]()

I’m currently in Ireland, for the opening of Hosting365’s DataCenter .. I arrived yesterday, and will be leaving later this afternoon back to Wales.
I will go into more detail about my trip later tonight, I also got some nice pictures of this great city (Dublin).
I had more than my share of Guiness pints last night, this morning I woke up feeling like a freight train just ran me over .. man, what a punch .. didnt help either the fact a few our our servers were attacked last night, so from 1:30-AM till about 4:30-AM the alarm (phone) kept going off, and I had to call the datacenter and get it all sorted out .. netherless to say, I feel like shit.
At least there is this nice Cybercafe right in front of the hotel, I was able to come down this morning and double check on all servers and helpdesk tickets, we seem to be 100% back in business, and all attacks have been filtered. ![]()
