Just another worthless blog
Bit to go here, one of these days
By NullMind on March 31, 2008
For the past few days, my Laptop (Macbook Pro), started to complain at times that it’s memory was a bit full (It asks you to close or pause running programs)
I merely closed a few extra programs and keep on working, but for some reason I decided to check, how long has this laptop been on ?, now keep in mind every weekday it gets carried from the house to the shop and office .. so it goes to sleep, but never off

Here are some updated pictures of my Mini-LST Project
No Standard parts, all upgrades, most of them I had to outsource from the US, so this project is taking time .. it will be done when it’s done, no hurry
One of my favorite features are the Alloy Wheels
It will of course be Brushless & Li-Po

We have lots of people who ask for contact information for the shop and website, either be at race events or even at the shop, I usually just scribble the URL and Phone on a paper, but now that we have some sponsored drivers, the need for business card was growing, so today i ordered some
Here is the design, on the back I left a space for the person who gives the card to put his or her name.
Looks good .. I think

I was one of the “very small” sponsors at the Neo08 .. we also advertise at the Neo-Buggy site .. so as such I got to send some banner to the event
Phil (Neo) told me I could send up to 3 meters by 2 meters, but by the life of me, I could not figure how it would be used, so instead I did 7 feet by 3 feet .. the normal size to go on the side fence of a track.
I was really pissed when I arrived at the Neo and saw 3 SIIM banners that where 3 meters by 2 meters on the back wall, towering above all others and very visible .. yep, i was kicing myself .. thats OK, now I know better and next year I will do them that big.
Anyway, looking at the Neo pics today I finally found some with our banner in the background .. yeah, I’m pathetic .. but I was proud of being able to advertise there
Our banners in the Background
See the nice SIIM banner above ours (being obscured by the crowd) .. thats what i’ll do next year

I cant believe I just paid £500+ for an old couch
My wife has been begging (bitching) me to get a new couch and chair for one of our living rooms (we have 2), she wanted a style couch called “Chesterfield” .. basically looks like a gentlemen’s club couch.
But every time I went to look at one on the shops, they all looked .. well .. like crap really, the leather looked like plastic, and the “aged” effect was painted on, really looked fake.
So yesterday we finally found the style she was looking, but with the good leather and proper age effect I wanted .. just a problem, it was 20 years old !!!
She actually is telling me this was cheap … but somehow paying that kind of money for an old couch .. just feels weird.
But hey .. you cant fake proper leather aging …

Last night I went out for a few pints with my friend Terry from Cardiff, he comes to the area twice a year, so we try to always for for a cold one.
The pub we go to is called The Borough Arms, great place and it’s affiliation free, so they have dozens of different lagers, bitters, etc etc ..
Anyway, on my way there I decided not to park on a secluded parking lot a few hundred feet from the pub, I was weary that since it was very dark, somebody might break in, instead I parked on the front of the pub (yes, on a double yellow line) on a well lit area, I tough it was safe .. yeah, right.
After a great night of conversation and drinks, we returned to the car to find the passenger side window smashed and my TOM TOM gone .. yes, the downside of parking on a nice lit area .. crooks can see inside the car .. dammit.
I was too happy with the effects of a few pints of Weissbiers (white beers) to care, so I drove to the RC NUT shop and taped some bin bags to the broken window frame .. in case it rained .. with this being England .. there is a good chance it will.
This morning I took a good look at the damage, broken window and £150 TOM TOM gone .. could have been worst, in the back of the Van I had a £300 Helicopter new in the box and a close to £1000 RC racecar .. thankfully the back of the car is dived from the front by a protective mesh .. no back access without a Key
So I went on the phone to try and find somebody to change the window .. I was disgusted by something I saw, I called 5 or 6 different companies, they all quoted me between £100 and £115 to replace the glass .. but there was this company simply called “Autoglass” in Crewe that quoted me £240 .. and insisted I used my insurer to pay .. basically they are in the business of sticking it to the Insurance companies … then we wonder why premiums are so high.
Anyway, I found a Car Breakers that have one for £15
.. I’ll go pick it up tomorrow (Hopefully) and install it myself with Dave’s (painter next door to RC NUT) help .. £100 saved is more stock on the shop ..

Yesterday we received the Banner we will use for the Neo08 race in Harper Adams.
RC NUT is a sponsor (a small one), so we get to put a banner on the track for the 4 day event, I got the banner from colourbanners.co.uk .. very reasonable prices .. and looks great

Last week a customer at RC NUT asked me if I would take this old Helicopter as a trade in for a M.A.S.H. Counter rotating Heli.
I offered him £50 for trade, today we settled for £60
And here it is, it’s a beast, size 60 I believe .. and it’s NITRO
I have no idea what is really worth, since it’s quite old, but with a little bit of TLC I will make it into a show piece at the shop, it’s so big that size alone will impress visitors.
Or perhaps i’ll just take it apart and rebuild it and see if it will fly again .. either way, I think it was a good deal …
