Mermaid Quay

Today I went down to Cardiff Bay, to an area called “Mermaid Quay” (seems Quay is pronounced Key)

I just lounged around, checking the views and taking some pics, later on I had some take out and had lunch sitting on one of the many benches overlooking the water on the bay, all around me it seems other people had the same idea, so it didn’t fell out of place.

My dream is of one day be able to own a flat in the bay, but with prices at about 160.000 for a 2 bedroom, it’s highly unlikely 🙂

The place is real nice, the first thing one notices is the new Opera House (Wales Millennium Centre) .. with these giant words carved on the side:

Creu Gwir Fel Gwydr O Ffwrnais Awen/In These Stones Horizons Sing

The Welsh inscription translates as creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration.

It was composed by Welsh poet, Gwyneth Lewis.

In this Picture you can see the Pier Head building (Red brick)

Here is a shot of some of the restaurants and the St. David’s hotel on the far end (left)

And a picture of yours truly (reflection on the waterfall .. which is the tall metal sculpture near the Opera house)
