Amazing how far the country went in 30 years .. you would never believe there used to be an oppressive government for centuries ..
Yesterday when I entered the Mall, I saw these 3 old ladies that seemed lost, they asked me if I spoke English and asked for some directions, .. where they happy when I said yes .. funny thing, they where spending the day here on a cruise ship, altrought the Azores are over 1500 miles from their home, we found out they live only 30 miles away from my Home in Florida .. isn’t this a small world .. anyway, they where marvelled at the state of the art Mall that we where on, and how technologically advanced this island is (I guess they thought they would find a poor Caribbean type setting here, not a spreading mini-metropolis) ..
Sometimes I need to take a step back and look around, this island is indeed amazing, I am yet to be able not to find anything I am used to back in the USA .. humm, except maybe for my TIVO .. which I miss dearly (but am happy to know it’s still recording CSI on the 160GB HD for me to watch upon the return to the sates :D)
