Just another worthless blog
Bit to go here, one of these days

I did a search on google for any records of myself on the web .. the earliest one I can find is a newsgroup post in 1995
Now, I know I was browsing a little while before that date, but I can find any earlier records
One of the things I noticed is how bad my English was back then .. I was 21/22 then, and had just arrived in the USA 6 months or so before ..

Subject: Lightwave, Amiga and Alpha
This is the only article in this thread

Newsgroups: comp.graphics.apps.lightwave
Date: 1995/11/15I’m a person that earns the life doing computer graphics for some TV stations
and a cable company, I use an Amiga 4000/040 Toaster, PAR, lightwave, Imagine,
etc…, and when the PAR is not enought I use the Flyer of a friend of mine.
My question is:
As whe all now, the Amiga 4000/040 (25 Mhz) is slow when it comes to render,
i’m whaiting to the A4000T 060 to come out so that I can Buy it, ot should I
buy an Alpha ?.
I know that you might say “you sould heven think twice, buy an Alpha !”, but
does it worth to change ?, lets see, I have all the software that I need on
the Amiga, I have the PAR, Toaster, etc, it’s a big investment, sould i trow
all out, and start all over again with an Alpha and Windows NT ?, because when
whe cange, whe do have to buy all the software again (except LW, that you can
upgrade), it’s already bad have to pay 10.000$ for the machine, now have to
pay deveral hundreds more for the software !?!.
And how about Screamernet, I was thinkig, maybe if I buy only the Alpha to be
a render machine, then i don’t need to spend all that extra money in software,
to the people taht use Amiga + SN + Alpha, does it work good ?.
And now a final question, whill LW 4.0 really work on a SGI Indy, or can only
be use for rendering ?.Tank you all, and If you have some really coll picture of yours, that you
don’t mind to chear (only for me to see, i love to see 3D pics) please E-Mail
me at carlos@ici.netP.S.-Sorry for the bad english
It’s amazing how we all evolve .. I actually used the word “chear” instead of “share” .. I guess I was writing it as it sounded ![]()
Unfortunately the 90’s are a blur to me, I had a pandora of bad experiences from 94 onwards that make me rather forget the whole decade sometimes.

I am actually surprised how quiet and relaxed I am today.
I am the kind of person that has an enormous hard time switching off, my mind is always on .. either work or family .. but the past 2 days .. just quiet solitude.
Kids are feeling better, business is surviving, other new business opportunities have revealed themselves, and above all, the servers have been stable.
I know I am just experiencing the calm before the storm, it’s the story of my life .. but I’ll take it ..

Today I went out and meet some new friends.
The guys/gal of the McMuc Mac User Group here in Cardiff, decided to meet for a iLife 5 keynote at the local Apple reseller, after that we went to “Toby Carvery” for a nice lunch.
It was very pleasant, everybody was nice and we had some good conversations going, the carvery was a great place also, and the food was delicious .. I just hope we get to do it again soon ![]()

Today while browsing Spymac, I saw a post .. a user was going too get 3K back in taxes .. And he was assign for advise,, should he pay his bills .. which included his current MAC, or buy himself a new MAC and screw the bills.
How did this question even come to be, are we all living in a MAD world, were it;s acceptable to ignore our bills .. have we lost any traces of shame or self respect .. what makes people think they can get away with simply .. Ignoring their obligations.
And worst, was all the brain dead .. advising him (as if a board was a place for such advise) too go for it, get a new computer.
I must admit, I been in tight spots before, most business owners will know the feeling, market fluctuates, and you find out the budget for lat month is no longer the same for this month .. but this is just regular folks .. showing the finger too the financial institutions … and honestly .. the financial institutions seem to don t care.
Why else would we be so easily inclined to spend, or worst, overspend .. because it’s made easy for uss, that’s why .. credit card companies just flood the mailboxes with offer, car vendors will even promise not to check your credit ..
We living on a cesspool .. and it’s getting stinkier by the minute,, it started in the USA and it’s spreading all over the world ..
Rules need to be made tougher,, not easier .. but no, banks and financial institucions will continue to make it easier for the retarded Joe to completely goo overboard and spend 2 years of income on a Audio/Video system, but will continue too raise hell for the poor working class honest man who wants to buy a house for his family ..
It makes me sick.

Today I was getting ready for dinner, when the bell rang, it was a man, with a dufflle bag,, trying too sell some household items, he has a identification card with it’s license,, in the back was a picture of his children.
He was very apologetic and ID himself right away, I noticed he had a speech impediment, and felt sorry for him, after all it was raining and here was this guy going from place to place trying to earn a few bucks.
I usually hate door salesman, in US they usually sent by big corporations trying too squeeze even more money out of you.
I was not interested,, so politely declined.
But as I went upstairs my own life hit me, here I am complaining I just got a huge job offer, but would mean Ii had too move, but I dont want to, or how I recently complained my profits were down .. profits,, not loss ..
How blind are we all .. some of us (like me) live life on a silver platter, we complaint we have less,, but never have to worry about complaining to have none.
A huge rush of guild overcame myself,, I had to find that man and buy something, why ? .. didn’t matter ..
So I ventured outside and fin ally found him, Instead of buying anything I just gave him 5 and told him too buy something for his kinds, and good luck
Why ?, was it about me feeling better about myself ?, yes,, probably .. but it’s also for the same reason I cant pass a beggar on the street widouth giving him a coin, or how I cant stand to see an animal or a child in need .. I am so blessed, but also am a pompass idiot, and sometimes I need others in need to remind me of it.

Man,, am I ever happy today
I have a online family gallery, on it I use Coppermine Galllery which I love.
Coppermine has this great XP_Publich function which allows me to select the pics I want to send to the gallery, resizes them automatically and posts them in the right category, unfortunately as the name hints,, it needs Windows XP to run.
There are other ways to do it on a MAC, but none that had the look/feel of coppermine
So when I was using Linux or now on MAC II had XP running (vmware on linux / Virtual PC on mac) ONLY to do that task
Today my prayers have been answered .. I found a script that exports right from iPhoto to the gallery .. I no longuer need to ever again boot a XP system
http://www.zzamboni.org/brt/copperexport/
If anybody uses Coppermine, go check it out, if you don’t use coppermine .. you should .. http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/ .. it’s the best Online Gallery I have ever seen. ![]()
